The first light of dawn was creeping out from the distance as the two toms padded across the river leaping from stone to stone. Lizardstorm, the brother of Nightstar was determined to seek revenge from the NightClan leader and his mate. He convinced Hailclaw to join sides with him since he was too, thirsty for the death of his leader. “I’m still not satisfied; there are only two of us, and so many of NightClan. Is not there any other cat that we could convince to fight alongside with us?” Lizardstorm snarled. Behind him Hailclaw followed wearily as if he was thinking of something important. “Would you hurry up?” Lizardstorm hissed then quickened his pace with a growl. “Silent, you! I think I may know a cat that was Banished moons ago for killing kits for pleasure. I’m not sure if he might still be alive or where he is but it’s worth a try to look for him.” He meowed.
As the river’s flow turned harsh the two cats began to leap faster and higher ignoring the risk of being swept away in the current. “Ugh, who is he? I don’t remember any cat being banished.”
“His name is Stripepelt. He was banished probably when we were kits.” Hailclaw replied. Lizardstorm grunted in frustration. “Well? How are we supposed to find this cat? We don’t even know if this cat you speak of is alive!” The tortoiseshell tom bunched his muscles for a final leap over to the other side of the river as Hailclaw silently followed.
“I know it is a hard chance but I’ve heard that he was extremely powerful. Imagine if he was on your side! We could—“
“Enough of this! I don’t want to waste my time on finding someone who hasn’t been heard from in moons. He’s probably dead by now!” He cut him off then stalked forward and paced up and down by a tree. Hailclaw was furious. “You haven’t changed a bit since you ran away from NightClan. The same annoying attitude like it was before. You don’t understand how helpful it would be if we actually discovered him alive! He doesn’t even know us and that’s a good advantage. If you want the worst for NightClan then you have to listen to me!” He urged with a stamp of his foot.
Lizardstorm was silent and he thought intensely looking at the soft earth. After a few heartbeats he gave a long sigh. “You bring this upon yourself. “ He stared down in silence once again. “But where do we start?” He changed his view to Hailclaw who was gazing at him furiously with his ice blue eyes.
“Well, we can start with the twoleg place and ask.” He meowed. “Mouse-brain! Who would we ask about a cat that was banished about a year ago?” He dug his claws into the earth growling. “Where else should we start?” he retorted. Lizardstorm hissed and started towards the deep forest.

It felt as if moons had passed until the two exhausted cats stopped for the night to rest under a large tree before the Twoleg Place. Evening had fallen and the trees in the beyond were silhouetted against the sky. Hailclaw stared at the endless cloudless sky thinking deeply about the bitter thirst for Nightstar’s blood on his paws. The trees blew furiously in his answering. As the sun drowned, Hailclaw followed as he dozed off to sleep, as he awoke.
Scanning the darkness he noticed he was somewhere deep in a forest. The trees blocked the night sky. Fear stroked his heart like ripples of water, unsure if this place was safe. The wind began to gust unusually swiftly, almost blowing him off his paws. Gritting his teeth the gust blew stronger taking him through the trees. The sound of the stormy gusts screamed into his ears as he was tossed in the air painfully. He heard loud growls of a tiger from the forest surrounding him. The wind continued then threw the tom onto the hard earth. Blood rolled down his face and body. Pain urged into his veins making him feel helpless as a stone. The feeling of death struck him as thick branches fell from the trees smacking down to the dirt threatening his life. For a heartbeat, he thought to pray to StarClan. “S-StarClan…help me…” He moaned. The world began to fade to darkness as everything grew silent and the wind died down as the last of the branches landed close by. Hailclaw groaned as blood trickled down from his jaws. A huge paw of long claws appeared in front of the injured warrior. Evil urged from within him as Hailclaw strained to peer up at the cat. He was the face of a utterly hungry-for-death cat. He stood as a huge muscled tom with brown and black stripes over a white pelt then uttered an ugly cry. “StarClan has turned from you…welcome to the Dark forest my friend.”
