Muscles ached, his stomach cried and his fur itched. After a few more paw steps, the golden tom fell with a thud panting helplessly. His heart pounded out of his chest. Clouds blanketed the sky and circled it promising dangerous weather. The first droplets of cold rain began to soak his pelt. He like a useless piece of crow-food but the golden tom strained to stand back onto his paws to move forward. Nightstar, you haven’t seen the end of this! You will suffer for every single thing you did to me! Blood streaked down his face and it showed no pain. His claws sheathed in fury and he drew back his lips letting his ears lay flat. The golden tom threw his head towards the sky. “You haven’t seen the last of me Nightstar my brother…Lizardstorm will receive my rightful place as deputy, the place where I belong!” Lighting struck the ground in the distance. Slowly, he let his head come back to glare with his dark blue eyes into the distance of the forest within. The menacing tom took off into the darkness leaving not only but footprints behind. The beast in his heart was being let loose as he darted between the trees and leaped over the logs and brambles in such accuracy. He stood in front of a large boulder and dared to shape into his leaping position. Hissing, Lizardstorm banged onto it continuously without break. His strength was rising day by day as the Clan continued on their duties not suspecting their leader’s brother to be the next big tragedy. Lizardstorm’s muzzle was full of unnecessary scars he looked as if he was a heap of filthy crow-food. The last sunrise was born and Lizardstorm was still not satisfied with his training. The trees were silent and the lake showed no movement as the evil warrior bent down to take a short drink. His ears twitched at the cracking of sticks in the distance. He raised his head slowly to meet eyes with his former clanmate. Lizardstorn blinked in surprise as the muscular tom stood fearlessly before him. “What are you doing here, Hailclaw?” Lizardstorm meowed gravely. The two toms made intense eye contact as if they would spring at each other in a heartbeat. “I know what you’re up to, and I will not hesitate to tell NightClan.” Hailclaw squinted his eyes to slits just as a gust of wind blew their fur to one side. “You don’t know what they have done to me. I want to kill Nightstar just as much as you do.” A long silence grew upon Hailclaw by the golden tom’s reply. “How did you-” The gray tom was cut off. “I know everything. When I was a NightClan cat, I could tell from your expressions and feelings for my brother that you wished for something so big to happen to him. You wished for his death.” Lizardstorm paused to think for a heartbeat then grew a grin on his muzzle. “Join me,” he meowed. His eyes glared at Hailclaw in determination as if they were sparks flying into his eyes. “Join you? You were the most flea-brained tom I ever knew!” He snapped. Lizardstorm didn’t blink but paced forward towards him. “Let’s make a truce. We are both looking for Nightstar’s death, so you’ll help me get to him. But I am also after Maplefur, she betrayed me. I will not let her have her kits, I would kill for her death.” He meowed with pure hatred. Hailclaw was still not convinced. “What have got to get from this except for Nightstar’s death?” he tensed his muscles in anticipation. “Once, Nightstar is finished, I will take my rightful place as leader, and I will make you my deputy.” Lizardstorm promised. Hailclaw nodded with a mocking grin. “I’m ready Lizardstar...”
